"Syllables" [Explicit Content]
Yes indeed, the Shady/Aftermath camp strikes again, with a little help from hiphop heavyweight Jay-Z. The collaboration was leaked January 2011 and is stated to be a track off the long awaited Detox LP. The song also features former Shady Records soldier, Stat Quo.
The song discusses the current state of hiphop, exposing the lack of creativity plaguing the industry. The seamless transition from emcee to emcee keeps the listener's head bopping and any hiphop head will certainly appreciate the effort put forth by each of these lyrical poets (keep in mind the track is an old recording that just leaked).
The song talks about the downfall of true lyricism and the unnecessarily over-use of "catchy" hooks and music gaining airplay based on beats and "dances," not necessarily due to the rappers' delivery or talent. This collab definitely sets the tone and gives every Dr. Dre fan something to look forward to.
REFLECTION: Dre is by far my favorite producer and one of my favorite rappers (though all his songs are #GhostWritten). I've been waiting for Detox for far too long and I think everyone agrees with me when I say #It'sBoutTime!!!!! And Jay got off, looks like he's been holding a grudge since Em tore him a new one on "Renegade" #JustSaying.
